Squee 1-4

man behind the insanity: jhonen vasquez

When you're itchin' for a dose of purebred, down & dirty, twistedly obtuce black humour, look no further than the depraved workings of Jhonen Vasquez. Famous more for the delightfully disgusting Johnny the Homocidal Maniac, this slightly (read: slightly) less sick spinoff is just as enjoyable. It's also more accessable in the fact that Vasquez tries less to gross you out while making you chuckle (because spewing when you're laughing is never a good idea).

Each issue is full of a multitude of 1 - 4 page stories centering around the aformentioned Maniac's cute, lovable, and criminally neglected 8 year old neighbour, with shorter (1-2 pages) stories featuring other Vasquez characters like Wobbly Headed Bob and Happy Noodle Boy. And then there's the personal commentary featuring Jhonen himself, describing (and, via therapudic means, putting down) his fans and the assorted sordid fan mail he recieves (that's the truly disturbing, yet downright hilarious in that pathetic, humour-at-the-expense-of-others kind of way).

As always biting commentary and mind bending thoughts are conveyed to his readers in small print on the inside front and back covers (and the traditional plea to buy his tee shirts).

Unless you're totally devoid of all humour cells, Squee is piss-yo-pants funny... so get it already.
