Basically an experiment in art over story, Madman/The Jam brings Allred's and Mireault's two best know creations together and places them in the world of one of the gods of modern art, M.C. Escher.
The story is simple, the meeting of Madman and the Jam, and they're entering into the house of Escher to find this woman Frank (Madman) has been dreaming about. The story is not the focus, though. The exploration and personification of the works of Escher, and the Artist himself is the key. It's as if Allred and Mireault are using there characters to represent themselves in a fantastical meeting with one of the most unique artists in history.
To be honest, it's not a good read. It is however good art. Each panel is something interesting to look at, exploring style, technique and form. If you're a gallery peruser, Madman/The Jam is perfect. If you're a reader, it's one to shy away from.
