A whopper of a story a year long in telling, very adventerous and an excellent read. The Road to You storyline began in HoS#8 to 10 with "Getting There". Rain, Tracey and Ben take to the road on the coast, getting as far away from Seattle as possible. But in a mysterious cave Rain is transported into the past where a different house of secrets exists, different incarnations of Ben and Tracey are there, and an entirely weird adventure happens. Meanwhile in middle America, a private eye is on the hunt for Rain, supposedly hired by her father.
Between issues 11 and 16, we are exposed to the origins of the members of the Juris as well as their first meeting. The Road to You: Being There is featured in each issue as a 3 page backup, which surprisingly is enough to advance the story in monumental steps. We are again meeting up with the PI and his girlfriend, as well as following along with Ben and Rain as they search the coast highway for Tracey (who's living in the fallout from her rape).
The final elements of the story (Leaving There in HoS #17 to 19) deals with mostly the PI's investigation of Rain, and his subsequent apprehention of her, bringing her to his father. It also deeply explores the Rain/Ben were-not-involved thing, deepening the mystery between those two, as well as setting up the inevitable fallout from the deal she made with Pfaultz. The higlight of the series is the PI's misconstrued notes on how Rain lives her life adding much needed humour to the severely heavy tone of the story.
The climax of the story was its only letdown, leading to further confusion about why Rain is the way she is and what really happened in her past. Otherwise though, one of the best reads (consistently) and well worth picking up.
