2 Phat, 2 Luxurious

I loved this entry on CHUD (a movie rumour site) talking about the trends that brought us to make Fast & Furious a success, and, it looks like 2 Fast, 2 Furious is going to follow suit.
Anyway, it's pretty funny and mirrors my thought's on the whole bidnizz:

Doesn't this whole "Tricked Out Cars" and "Hanging Out In The Parking Lot" mindset seem a little shitty? I see all these kids in the parking lot of the local movie theater and Barnes & Noble on the weekends and it mystifies me that A.) Girls would actually be interested in such a charade and B.) They find it entertaining to rev their engines and speak in fractured English. Am I missing something?

When our folks made muscle cars, it was duct tape and grease and grime, not spoilers and neon undercarriages bought with Dad's credit card. There's no street cred if you have a BUDGET!

Ugh, maybe I'm just old fashioned and like my cars more than 4 inches off the ground and don't think Vomit Green and Bile Yellow are apt colors for a car.

What the hell am I doing?

I'm watching at the moment a VH1 program airing on Much More Music... you know, the station for people who can't get out of living in the past....
I'm watching one of those "best of" retrospective programs, in this case, it's the Top 80 Videos of the 80's (just the top ten tho).
If you know me even a little, you know where my musical tastes lead me, and it's not 80's music, and it's not pop radio... but here I am anyway, watching, on a Friday night, mind you, while North by Northeast is going on out there on the other end of west Queen Street, this cheesy Emilio Estevez hosted programme. I can hear it now... "wha' happened"?

Well, one, it's weird watching them count down a list of something that you really don't care much about. You really don't care what they think is the best one or what not.
And then there's the cheesy flashback to my childhood, as I remember all this stuff, and it's good to realize that you've grown, and sometimes you see a few thing that actually inspired the tastes that you have now. Strange.
Just as strange as having interviews with people like David Allen Grier, Everlast, Kevin Bacon and more people totally unrelated to the songs on display. Eh?

The strangest-ass part was not the video selection, but the host selection. Yeah, Emilio Estevez was a fixture of the 80's Brat Pack, and he was married to Paula Abdul, but jesus, Emilio... BLINK. Seriously. The entire hour, Emilio blinked three times... you can't even make a drinking game from that. Jesus.
And he was completely uncomfortable with the material... he was stiff and twitchy and just totally awkward. What happened to you, buddy? Your b-movie direct-to-video productions not keeping your acting chops well honed?

Anyway, it was a weird selection, and strange entertainment, and full of fits of "oh no you didn'ts" (shits and giggles, kids, shits and giggles.)

See the top ten list over on The Big List... whee

jumpin' g.hossifat!

I've just been catching up on all this Star Wars Kid stuff going on over at Jish's site and around the globe.

First came the straight video of the awkward overweight teen from Quebec practicing his Darth Maul impression, making the sabre noises with his mouth. The tape was found and spread around the globe.
It is now cliche.

Then came the special effects version that sorta poked fun [duh] and really made the fanboy populus go wild.

After interviewing him, Jish and Andy started a fundraiser to buy the kid an iPod to thank the kid for his entertainment, to quell a little of the pain it must have caused him, and to push him further into geekdom.

And then there's the media attention this has all been getting (that poor kid, I can only imagine if someone got the tape of me in my basement apartment pretending to be Samurai Jack with my lightsabre... of course I have some sense of balance... but don't worry Ghyslain, I grew into it)

Anyway... nice to be all caught up..
oh shit, now someone's "reloaded it"... jesus, it's already more played out than Bullet Time...

The Muppet Show is coming, eventually

Now a few weeks ago I was certain I had seen an advertisement featuring none other than Fozzie Bear on CTS (which is some hybrid Nick-at-Night meets 100 Huntly Street concotion of a television station) whilst watching a rerun of the Cosby Show...
but it's been at least a month since I saw it so I decided to be a little proactive and here's the result:
