Retrobrowsers

"One of the main side effects of rapid technological change is nostalgia for the obsolete." --Marshall McLuhan.

welcome

Retrobrowsers are the Web browsers of yesterminute. Many surfniks do use Netscape 3.0 but how many ever used Netscape 1.0? Was there life before Internet Explorer? What happened to Mosaic? What is Cello? What was the first web browser? The Internet exploded in popularity by 1995, but what did people use prior to that?

Welcome to Retrobrowsers; a tribute to a life less ordinary and to a life less burdensome.

what we got

* ye olde mission statement.
* things that constitute as retrobrowsers.
* downloadable retrobrowsers.
* chronology of browser versions prior to 1996.
* individual histories on each retrobrowser.
* html tips on making your page readable to a wider audience.
* stories about the retromen.
* legal information (or a close approximation).

what we want

* a CGI engine that allows you to view a URL through the eyes of a retrobrowser.
* lots more retrobrowsers (and how to submit your own).
* a site search engine.
* memories of yesteryears.
* zero litigation problems.

Due to the excitement of a new server, several things have not been as fully realized yet. However, with your patience and our perseverance, the retrobrowsers site will continue to grow and respond to your needs.
