Mark and Nancy's Honeymoon Pictures
These are the pictures taken during Mark and Nancy's honeymoon between July 13, 2003 and July 20, 2003.
We stayed at the El Senador Resort on the island of Cayo Coco off of the north shore of Cuba.
The pictures are roughly in chronological order. If you want a higher quality version of one of these
pictures, email us and we'll send you one (each one is about 1 megabyte).
Here are some pictures of the hotel rooms ("Villas") that we stayed in at the resort. The villas are
on a lagoon with a lot of mangrove, which is connected to the ocean by a stream.

In the lagoon are a lot of jellyfish. Here is a rather blurry picture of two of them (bottom-left
corner and top-right corner).

This is a picture of two of our favourite spots at the resort: the Cigar Lounge (left) and the Jacuzzi (right).

The jacuzzi was a great place to cool down when we didn't want to hang out in the sun as it wasn't
heated and completely sheltered.

Here is the adults only pool (not strictly enforced). This pool was much quieter than the main pool
and we swam in this pool the most.

These are pictures of the hotel room (a "Junior Suite") that we were supposed to get as part of our
honeymoon upgrade. However, we ended up staying in a villa which worked out to be a double upgrade.

Our digital camera was a wedding gift that we received just days before the wedding and we didn't
have time to read the manual. We had very little time to pack for the honeymoon so we neglected to
bring our battery recharger. Fortunately, we ran into Jen and Bonnie who have the same model of digital
camera. They took time out of their day to recharge our batteries for us. So, here is a picture taken
of Jen, Bonnie and Nancy after our camera battery was recharged. Thanks again!

We tested out our camera again by taking two shots of the beach. This beach is actually part of the
Tryp Caco Coco resort which neighbours the El Senador. We were probably on the beach for about 2 hours
this day, which is by far the most time we spent on the beach (Nancy and I aren't much for hanging out
in the sun. - Mark)

Here is a picture of the balcony in our Villa...

... and here is a picture of the inside of our room.

This is the main pool at the resort. Since it's by the lobby, it was packed most of the day.

This is the lobby of the resort (taken from the poolside). The windows on the left are the lobby bar
we were known to spend a fair bit of time.

A view from the lobby bar.

I'm not sure what kind of flowers these are. Nancy probably knows. - Mark

This is a picture of the mangrove behind the Cigar Lounge.

Here's another picture of the villas.

The lagoon rises and falls with the tide so the walkways and steps all have to be hinged or on rollers.

This pool was about the same size as the main pool. In high season, it would be just as busy as the
main pool as it's beside the other lobby. This half of the resort was closed when we went, so this
was a very quiet pool.

Here is another picture of the adults only pool. We tended to play catch with a wiffle ball on this end
of the pool.

We tried lobster for the first time at the resort. Apparently, the restaurant didn't do it justice so
we'll have to try it again sometime.

Here's a picture of a bee hummingbird at the resort. A zoomed in version of the hummingbird is
below the picture.

Here's a zoomed in version.

Zen and Linda were a couple from the Hamilton/Burlington area that we hung out with at the resort.
Here we all are at the lobby bar

Nancy liked taking pictures of our feet

Here's another picture of feet. This time, with ripples!

Between the beach and the lagoon are some small cliffs that are made from soft stone. Somebody
carved a face into the cliff so Mark posed beside it.

Here's Mark picking the nose of the face in the cliff.
