the taste of fire, in a bag.
i'm not sure, but i think i stumbled by a few of the places in manhattan that i had been to when i first was here 6 years ago. 6 years ago, when i worked at softquad, i went along with one of those pc expo things as a technical resource in case the questions the sales and marketing staff received went over their heads. mostly though, it was just appeasing the press and meeting the "lisa's" or the eye candy girls from the other booths who help demonstrate whatever's getting hawked.
6th avenue where the numbers start is just a little ways from nyu and there's a great little basketball courtyard unlike the myriad of others in that there's always a good competitive game that draws a crowd. this triggered my memory that there was a werewolf themed bar closeby, one with yards of ale and great european brew, but i couldn't find it in the village. so i meandered northwards until broadway intersected in the 30s and then tromped through to times square, where the sidewalk traffic coagulated. i'm supposed to find some exclusive toys at toys'r'us, but they were closed for an exclusive party. figures.
from there, hit 53rd, went west until 10th and walked up a quiet stretch until the lincoln centre, which is really eerie when there's little traffic and few pedestrians. quick cut east through central park, stop by the duck pond and then wander home. however, i blindly hit st. patrick's cathedral, which was a pleasant surprise although the thoughts of the majestic ceremonies turn to thoughts of what happened to the altar boys recently. still, i tested out the flash/no-flash on the camera and managed to get some great lighting effects which i'll upload when i'm back in toronto (ever-so-briefly-maybe-but-i-can't-divulge-yet-shhh).
alas, work hails.
