Microcosmos (1996)

Come see the human side of bugs

Nature shows always string us along by having a narrator tell us what the animal is, what it's doing and why it's doing it. Microcosmos strips it all away, the narrator only introducing and closing out the film, and music and sound take charge.

Microcosmos explores the world of bugs in a manner done like never before, it humanizes them. Theres a romantic encounter between two snails, a catapillar highway traffic jam, a duel between two beetles, and various insect grooming techniques amongst everything else. It's quite interesting and engaging - often humourous - and quite worth the watch.

The best scene is that of a pheasant (or some type of bird) attacking an ant village, shot and "acted" out like a campy Japanese giant monster flick.
